44 Laid Off At Sacramento Bee, Including 9 In Newsroom

The beleaguered Sacramento Bee is eliminating another 44 jobs, including 9 in the newsroom, the Sacramento Business Journal reports. Two of the nine were reporters.

The Bee has cut staff by 400 in the past three years; most recently the paper cut 32 jobs through a combination of buyouts and layoffs, just last quarter; that’s the sixth round of cuts in three years.

McClatchy Co., which owns the Sacramento Bee, has cut 4,300 jobs since 2008, the Business Journal said.
