3G iPhone this Summer?

PC World reports that Apple might be coming out with a 3G version of the iPhone within six months, in part due to an increased European demand for 3G handsets.
The article cites a research note from Citigroup analyst Richard Gardner in which he says that we’ll likely see lower shipments of the iPhone this quarter and the launch of a model with 3G high-speed technology would help the company reach its goal of 10 million iPhones shipped this year.

“We believe that lack of 3G has been a significant headwind for iPhone in Europe where 3G is already pervasive,” PC World quoted Gardner as saying.

Here in the States, sales of a 3G iPhone could be significant once AT&T completes its announced plans to push its 3G coverage into 350 major markets, including the nation’s 100 largest cities.
