37 Arts: Glass Act

In April, I posted about 37 Arts, a new building that Miss actually, um, liked. Shocking, I know. Anyway, I got a follow up tip about some of the construction details, so I thought I’d share with the class:

Regarding 37 Arts, which you mentioned on April 22: The new mixed-use arts building near the Javits Center uses U-Profile glass from Bendheim Wall Systems. The channels are siliconed together, not welded. Other textures of BWS distinctive LINIT glass were installed in Manhattan on E 76 St at Polshek Partnership’s design for the exterior of the Lycee Francais de New York and downtown inside Cesar Pelli’s Winter Garden at the World Financial Center.

The image above is from the Lycee and there are many more project photos on the Bendheim web site. It’s a whole lotta frosty glass action, which makes me wonder: Is LINIT the glass brick of the oughts?
