3 Events Added to NewFronts Schedule

Welcome newcomers PBS Digital Studios and Endemol Beyond and welcome back IAB's NewFronts Insights panel to this year’s Digital Content NewFronts. PBS Digital Studios will hold its presentation on May 5 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hudson Theatre in New York. Matt Graham, senior director of PBS Digital Studios, told Adweek that they plan to feature about half a dozen of its top shows and some new shows that it will be launching this summer. The digital arm of the network has been around for about two years, during which time it has won numerous accolades and had many viral hits. However, Graham noted that many people in the industry don’t know the public-supported network exists online. He sees the NewFronts as a sort of introduction to the world. “We’ve had a period of great experimentation. We find ourselves at a place now where we have some extremely strong shows,” he explained. Independent production company Endemol Beyond will host its presentation on May 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The location has not been announced. The company, which launched late last year, delivers premium original content across digital platforms. It currently has hubs in the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, Italy and Spain, spanning over 150 YouTube channels. Recently, the company announced deals with Pitbull, Courtney Love and YouTube star MattyB. It also acquired its first original digital comedy, Super Happy Fun Time, Yey! (SHFTY), for its comedy vertical, beyondComedy. "Our unique ability to deliver quality content to a standard that is sought after by key advertisers and that plays to a worldwide fan base on any platform, including television, is something we look forward to addressing at the NewFronts this year,” Will Keenan, Endemol Beyond USA president, told Adweek via email. The NewFronts Insight Lunch will be held in the IAB AdLab from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on May 7. The IAB will present studies conducted on the digital video medium, with a focus on audience behavior. The advertising organization also plans to showcase five original research presentations from IAB member companies, as well as a new study on digital video spending. "We look forward to hosting the second annual IAB Insights into Digital Video event during NewFronts. Amidst two weeks of high impact presentations showcasing the next big digital video programs, it’s important to IAB that we balance the glitz with the tangible reality of the immense opportunity original digital video presents to advertisers,” Julie Van Ullen, vice president of member services at IAB, told Adweek over email.
