24th Annual Webby Awards Show Canceled Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

An internet celebration is being planned for winners to deliver their five-word speeches

The 24th annual Webby Awards, which was scheduled for May 11 in New York, has been canceled because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Webby Awards recognize and honor the best of the internet.

Nominees will be announced in the coming weeks, followed by public voting. The new schedule will be released in the days ahead, and the plan is to hold an internet celebration and give the winners the chance to deliver the event’s trademark five-word speeches.

Webby Awards executive director Claire Graves said in a statement, “Despite these changes and the current global environment, we are excited to celebrate this year’s Webby honorees, nominees and winners.
