15% of Humans Now Have 3G Service, 40% by 2014
The estimated world population is about 6.8 billion people. Qualcomm estimates that just under 15% of us are 3G wireless data subscribers as of mid-March:

They quote an estimate from Wireless Intelligence that the number of 3G subscribers will reach 2.8 billion by 2014. Assuming the world’s population grows linearly at a 1.14% growth rate between now and 2014, the world’s population should be around 7.1
