Where sex meets environmentalism

What does a scantily clad Argentinian model have to do with endangered turtle eggs? She is warning Mexican men not to eat them as an aphrodisiac. “My man does not need turtle eggs. Because he knows they don’t make him more potent,” the model, Dorismar (Playboy’s March 2003 cover girl), says in a series of ads set to break in September. But Mexico’s National Women’s Institute has already come out against the campaign, saying that it plays into the country’s culturally ingrained machismo. “We are not against the campaigns that protect turtles and their eggs, just the way in which they use the woman, as a stereotype or sexual object,” the group said a statement.
