State Farm asked Weezer to record a version of its jingle last year, and since Weezer had already sold its credibility to whoever makes Snuggies back in 2009, they said, "Sure, why not?" In fact, they got the original full-length song, written by Barry Manilow, out of mothballs so they could record a cover of it. Manilow wrote the original back when he was desperate for money, which is a better excuse than whatever Weezer came up with to justify this.
