LONDON—Did you know that if you’re 35 and pregnant, healthcare professionals refer to you as a geriatric mother? Or if a woman miscarries, the medical term for that loss of life is a spontaneous abortion?

Peanut, a parenting app for women, is fighting to change what it says is “harmful” and “outdated” medical language by providing a new glossary of alternative terminology through a campaign titled “renaming revolution.”
