A quote from civil rights campaigner, political activist and author Dr. Angela Davis circulated widely last year during the Black Lives Matter protests: “In a racist society, it is not enough to be nonracist. We must be antiracist.”

That rallying cry is the inspiration behind a new public awareness campaign, created by Interpublic Group’s IPG DXTRA agency collective, which encourages white parents to talk openly with their children to help them recognize and oppose racism. “Dear White Parents” addresses the insight that while many Black and brown parents discuss racism with their children to prepare them to face discrimination, white parents rarely have such a conversation with their own children to teach them to be antiracist.
