This Holiday Ad Charmingly Captures the Joyful, Awkward Love of a Father for His Son

Dad dancing never changes, but the response does

Will a young boy's joy at his father's dancing fade with time? Perhaps, but life has a way of coming back around again. BETC Paris

In a span of 90 seconds, French telecom company Bouygues tells the story of a father-son relationship come full circle in a heartwarming video that’s just right for the holidays.

The spot by BETC Paris starts with a Christmastime scene of a father dancing in front of his diaper-clad son to Redbone’s “Come and Get Your Love,” recently revived in popularity thanks to its prominent placement at the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy.

As we follow the two over several years, the song and dad-dancing appear again and again, but to a growingly skeptical and embarrassed son.

In the spot’s closing moments, we see another Christmas scene, and the son gifts his dad a Bouygues phone (you already know the ringtone). He video chats his dad with his own son in his arms, and of course, he’s dancing, too.

The father is charming, the opening scene is full of nostalgia (replete with a cassette tape!), and the relationship is sweet. It’s a delightfully feel-good ad cute enough to make anyone update their own Spotify playlists for a “Come and Get Your Love” routine.
