This Cosmic PSA Wants to Inform LGBTQ+ Students of Their Rights

In 'The Q-niverse,' queer youth in New York are given the knowledge necessary to safely exist

Some LGBTQ+ rights vary from state to state, and even in places where protections are comparatively robust, it can be complicated to navigate how these laws can help protect queer youth. Even when aware of the laws, harnessing them entails understanding legal jargon that isn’t always accessible.

With the need to clarify potentially life-saving federal protections for queer youth in mind, the after-school organization Queens Community House’s Youth Outreach Department has launched “The Q-niverse.” Created in partnership with Joan Studios, this platform uses cartoon characters to create an informative video that intends to educate queer youth and their parents of their rights.
