‘Smackdown’ commentator smacked down

If there are any WWE fans reading this thing, you (like me) hate Michael Cole, the gangrenous leg of Smackdown‘s commentary team. So you’ll be pleased to learn that he’s in hot water. Apparently, he outsourced the making of a Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass cartoon to an anonymous Flash animator, who allegedly stole plot elements and the central idea from Assy McGee, a show on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim about a vigilante policeman who is “literally a walking pair of buttocks.” (The visual should help, in case you can’t grasp the concept.) Because this story clearly wasn’t funny enough on its own merit, Assy’s creators are suing. Not only is this yet another Turner-McMahon fracas in a long history of them (Turner Broadcasting owns Cartoon Network and owned McMahon’s main competitor WCW), Cole is in danger of getting sacked as the head of WWE.com, per ProWrestling.com. Unfortunately, the site reports that “his Smackdown announcing job is not in jeopardy.” If it was, they would’ve needed to change Smackdown‘s name to schadenfreude in honor of the fans’ reaction.
