Shortly after the pandemic hit New York last year, when social distancing and quarantining were in full effect, Andrew Bennett posted on his Instagram Stories that he’d be at Brooklyn Museum if anyone wanted to ride bikes with him. And they did—17 people came out for a cycling tour of the city. By the time he planned a celebratory Juneteenth ride a few weeks later, 1,500 people showed up to ride alongside him.

At its core, Good Company Bike Club is about representation in cycling, a community that’s notorious for not always being accessible to everyone, particularly in New York where things like bike lanes and Citi Bike stations don’t always exist in predominately Black neighborhoods.
