As we enter our third year under the Covid-19 pandemic, social isolation, job loss and economic insecurity have impacted the mental health of millions of Americans. According to a 2021 study by the Kaiser Family Foundation, 4 in 10 adults in the U.S. reported symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorder, up from 1 in 10 who reported similar symptoms in 2019. A 2020 tracking poll from Kaiser also found other negative impacts on mental health like difficulty sleeping, eating and an increase in alcohol and substance abuse.
