Pop music queen Grace Jones is held up as an epitome of coolness. But she’s so iconic that she’s above the very concept of cool—as she demonstrates when she poses the question: “Why does everything need to be cool these days?”

Jones asks this ironic question as the star of British finance company Barclaycard’s latest campaign, created by Droga5 London, which takes aim at payment services that have become trendy.

She may be the eternal icon of cool, but she criticizes the world’s obsession with this term.
