Overthrow your totalitarian thirst with Sprite

Headshot of David Griner

If your country's despotic strongman isn't swayed by peaceful protests, you might want to try offering him a bottle of Sprite. Odds of success are slim compared to the odds of getting a jackboot on your neck, but it seems to work in this ad by Publicis Israel. "Sprite believes that everyone has a refreshing side," notes the campaign summary, "even the world's toughest dictators." It's an awkwardly timed spot, considering the chain reaction of democratic uprisings in recent months, but the creative team was probably pretty confident that Asian communist regimes weren't going anywhere.
