Adweek’s Podcast of the Year Awards launched in 2019 and quickly became one of the most high-profile honors for audio content that advances culture, creativity and professional storytelling.

The awards program is back for 2020, but this time we’ve added a new—and one-time-only—category to the mix: Best Podcast Launched in Quarantine.

Aimed at celebrating the boundless creativity we’ve seen emerge from the global lockdown sparked by the Covid-19 pandemic, this category will have no entry fee and is open to any podcast whose launch was due directly to the voluntary or mandatory quarantines implemented worldwide.

“Despite all the darkness and uncertainty of these past few months, we at Adweek have been so energized by the creativity coming out of those whose lives and jobs were suddenly disrupted by the pandemic,” said David Griner, Adweek’s creative and innovation editor, and co-host of its flagship podcast Yeah, That’s Probably an Ad.
