Only a year out of One School’s ad program, San Francisco-based writer Jamal Parker has already written a prominent ad “Family Dinner on NBA Lane,” his proudest work post-graduation.

Created during his tenure at Translation LLC and in partnership with art director Asia Irvin, the ad celebrated the five NBA games being played on Christmas day by highlighting the friendly rivalries they can inspire.

“It was the very first spot of my career which aired on broadcast, and having folks such as Quavo, Desus and Mero, Dominique Wilkins, Robert Parrish, Billy Crystal and more be a part of it was extraordinary.”

As part of Adweek’s Profiles in Black Creativity, Parker’s talks of his goals for the coming year as he continues to solidify his immovable place in the industry.
