If you keep digging, where do you end up?

If your kids ever decide to follow through with their idea to dig a hole to China, here’s a Web site for them. DigHoles.com, pretty much the only child-safe site with the word hole in the address, pinpoints where you would end up if you dug a hole from your current residence clean through the center of the Earth and out the other side. And it’s not China. If I were to dig straight down from my alma mater (Gettysburg College), I would eventually wind up in Heaven, because I’d come out somewhere in the Indian Ocean (the same is true of most places in the U.S.), where I would drown, if I hadn’t burned up in the Earth’s molten core or expired from exhaustion. But DigHoles.com is a good site for putting the world in an interesting perspective. And unlike most sites on the Internet, you don’t walk away from it thinking that way too many people enjoy (to use just one example) watching barefoot women step on fruit.
