This new Converse clip, “3 Chords,” features a kid playing guitar and singing about not being like everybody else. The ad says, “Learn three chords. You’ll know 1,000 songs.” True, but many of them will be by Genesis. The Converse song is actually somewhat better than some of the band’s later albums, but damn if that kid isn’t channeling Ricky Segall’s unisex look and vocal approach. Ricky was The Partridge Family’s version of Cousin Oliver on The Brady Bunch.
