When we read about this IBM anti-spam initiative, our first reaction was why didn’t someone think of this before? The tech giant unveiled a free program, called FairUCE earlier this week that fights spam with spam—automatically returning spam to the computer where it originated. But we had a secondary reaction, too—which was that spammers, sophisticated con artists that they are—will find a way around attempts to stop them, like, for instance, getting hold of the program themselves, thus fighting anti-spam with its antidote: more spam.
