In a game of automotive word association, many people would reply to  “SUV” with an adjective like “massive.” But that response could become obsolete if a recent trend gains momentum. Consumers are still buying SUVs, of course. However, a new report from J.D. Power and Associates suggests the oversized ones are falling out of favor. “Traditional truck-based SUVs captured just 12.1 percent of U.S. new-vehicle retail sales in April, their lowest market share since May 1996,” according to research by the company’s Power Information Network division.
