Disability spot says we’re all pretty deficient

Health & Disability Advocates urges employers to "Think beyond the label" and hire people with disabilities in this ad from Chicago agency Wirestone. The HR manager is portrayed by Alana Wallace, who uses a wheelchair in real life as a result of polio. The rest of the employees are all "challenged" in their own ways: unable to dress properly, operate a copier or speak at a reasonable volume. Workplace humor has been done to death, but the twist here is especially apt, and the cheerful atmosphere is refreshingly un-preachy, as the spot points out that everyone's "different" in one way or another. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a meeting with personnel about my fondness for sequins, destruction of office equipment and incessant howling in my cube. I'll just explain that I'm different. Really different! Thanks, HDA!
