When Charles Gwathmey’s undulating green-glass tower went up in New York Astor’s Place, Paul Goldberger wrote in The New Yorker that it “disrupts the neighborhood’s rhythm” and is “an elf prancing among men.” David Beckham, whose Adidas ad got obscured by the building, just stands there screaming at it.
