In the interests of fairness, we should point out that CBS isn’t the first major U.S. television network to advertise on produce. TBWA\Chiat\Day did it for ABC in the 1990s with stickers on bananas. (They read: “Another fine use of yellow. ABC.”) Of course, egg musings somehow seem a whole lot more rotten than banana musings. Still, if memory serves, people weren’t too pleased with ABC’s gimmick at the time either. I suppose people adapt.
