You can’t take Tom Brady home and stick him inside a cage after he leads the New England Patriots to victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Sunday’s Super Bowl. (Go Pats!)
You can, however, adopt Cuddles, the quarterback in Annie’s Homegrown Bunny Bowl II, after today’s livestreamed action on Facebook, beginning at 1 p.m. ET. In fact, all of the game’s pilose participants, provided by Rabbit Ears Rescue, are available. (Pick up a wascally wabbit to go with that Animal Planet Puppy Bowl pet!)
The event, developed with Veneer Studio, celebrates the company’s leporid mascot, familiar to fans from its appearance on boxes of Annie’s meals and snacks. As in last year’s “game,” expect bunnies to bounce around in a mini football stadium set, their noses wickedly wriggling and bushy backfields in motion.
For 2018, they’ve added a hare-y half-time show, featuring BUNyonce and TAIL-ear Swift, who will be “singing and dancing to pop music with a disco ball and confetti raining down,” says Annie’s rep Melody Ainsworth.
BUNyonce—heh. Wait, singing rabbits? What’s up with that, Doc?
Ainsworth wouldn’t say, but the company expects to surpass last year’s Bunny Bowl engagement numbers, when the event generated 156 million impressions and 60,000 livestream views.
For a less adorable, though stupefyingly shaggy spectacle, Epic Provisions stages its inaugural Bison Bowl on Sunday, streaming the event on Facebook during half-time at the Big Game to raise awareness for grassland restoration and grass-fed livestock.
Videographer Jerret Wilson created a gridiron battle of some sort between two teams of bison, with 70 animals participating. Details are scarce, but Epic co-founder Taylor Collins promises “a unique opportunity for consumers to witness the power and majestic beauty of bison.”
Yeah, those horned hulks of pungent protein are all that. We’re in for a jerky treat!
Even-toed ungulates or Justin Timberlake—which will you be watching at halftime? (As it turns out, JT also enjoys a little “grass feeding” on occasion.)
