An Australian Shepherd Playing Lara Croft Is 2 Minutes of Cute Overload

Everything’s better when dogs and cats are added to the mix and this parody for video game Shadow of the Tomb Raider, out September 14, is no different. Game developer Square Enix sought to give fans of the Tomb Raider franchise something light to balance the intensity of the video game trailer for the final Lara Croft game. Created by Barkley, Shadow of the Cute Raider delivers ... almost too well. Would you rather watch Lara Croft kill enemy combatants or a kitty ride a Roomba (dubbed Toomba for cinematic ‘purrposes’)? Exactly. [kickout id="1"] It’s quite the cute cast. Lara Croft is an Australian Shepherd, armed guards are easily-distracted tabby cats, and a Labrador Retriever puppy is in need of rescue from the High Priest, played by a hairless Sphinx cat (those eyes!). Doggie Lara Croft is in a race against time. She must high tail it through the jungle, evading guard cats, to rescue the Lab puppy before Sphinx cat can shear it. Croft uses yarn, laser pointers (genius and hilarious) and a Roomba to deter the feline enemies and rescue the Lab before any fur was lost. “This game trailer is intense, so we wanted to counterbalance that with cuteness. Plus, we all know the internet loves puppies,” said Katy Hornaday, EVP/ECD at Barkley. Cute Raider began running on Tomb Raider’s social channels on August 26, coinciding with National Dog Day. To get you ready for the actual film, you can catch the Shadow of the Tomb Raider trailer, but we’re guessing you might not find it quite as cuddly and adorable.
