With an empty pizza box and a smartphone, Pizza Hut customers got the chance to relive a classic in-restaurant experience with a modern-day twist.

For its “NEWstalgia” campaign, the pizza chain teamed with video game company Bandai Namco and agencies GSD&M and Tool of North America to turn its delivery boxes into a limited-edition augmented-reality Pac-Man game.

With a quick scan of a QR code, customers could play a virtual version of the iconic cabinet games that resided in restaurants—without having to download a separate app.

To further amp the nostalgia, the campaign included ad spots featuring comedian Craig Robinson as he ate pizza and played video games in a scene reminiscent of the beloved in-restaurant experience.
