For Bernice Chao, her road to a life as a professional creative started with drawing classes and a first generation, candy-hued Apple iMac computer that her parents brought home one day.

“I began creating drawings in Paint,” she recalled for Adweek’s AAPI Creative Spotlight. “I have always loved technology and art.”

She continued to nurture her talent through years of art school at California’s ArtCenter College of Design, where she majored in graphic design. Then she landed a rather fortuitous job working on digital-forward projects at TBWA\Chiat\Day/Tequila—her first exposure to the world of creative adverting.
