Gender-based violence is an international problem and it’s one that tends to worsen during public crises. The difficulties that many victims encounter when seeking protection indicate a need for global solutions, and for many that begins with open discussion.

Hoping to raise awareness around the troubling statistics around gender-based violence and start a dialogue about them, telecommunications provider Movistar Peru teamed with Havas Group Peru to launch its “Minute 8” campaign. Subtitled “The Minute of Silence That Started the Conversation,” the accompanying spot reflects on information from the United Nations that shows that every eight minutes, a woman dies somewhere in the world due to gender-based violence.
