The first information I consume in the morning is the immediate news. I wake up and read The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and New York Post. Then I will normally check the fashion blogs and read Women’s Wear Daily to see what is going on in that world. What do you read or watch or listen to at the breakfast table? The French news is usually playing in the background. I like to YouTube motivational Barbra Streisand with my coffee, fresh OJ and an egg-white omelet with fresh avocado. What occupies your mind in the car, on the subway, train or bus? A million thoughts a minute! I have a constant creative list of ideas, tasks, emails to go through and review. Running a business is a collaborative effort so I am constantly brainstorming with my team the different tasks I need to accomplish in the day and week ahead of me. Are you a TV junkie or on an airtime-restricted diet? I’m a total TV junkie when I have the time! I watch loads of TiVo, old movies on the computer or clips of great theatrical performances from Broadway to dance. I am constantly researching. Right now on TV I’m really into The Good Wife, Suits, Downton Abbey, The Mindy Project and Scandal. I love me some Olivia Pope! Before bed, do you bite into a novel, graze on Twitter or fast until morning? Usually, I’ll fast until the morning. If I turn on the TV, I’ll usually watch Jon Stewart or The Colbert Report and either fall asleep to a nature program or Iron Chef. I love a good cooking show. Which is more nutritious: print or Web? The Web is certainly more prolific and disposable, but the tactile quality of paper allows it to be more multifaceted. The Internet is an amazing source for research, and it is more nutritious for our planet. But bringing something into the physical will always prolong its life. Most printed text gets double exposure online, whereas articles that live solely online don’t get that exposure. Give us the skinny on your favorite app. I love my 8mm app for the iPhone. It’s so much fun to make short films and be able to record moments in history through various mediums and filters. And, of course, I really love my Instagram. It’s an amazing app that allows me to share what’s happening in my home and studio with the world. What’s your biggest digital indulgence? Netflix! I’m able to catch up on all the shows I’m not able to watch during the week. Also, their movie archive is incredible. With such a bloated media universe, how do you cut out the fat? It’s hard, but I try my best to just live in reality.
