The Weather Channel announced today that it is replacing its current CEO with an executive from the digital and advertising worlds.

Mike Kelly, who had been president and CEO of The Weather Channel since 2009, will be stepping down. In his place, The Weather Channel is installing David Kenny, who had previously served as head of a developer of cloud computing platforms called Akamai. Before that, he was co-founder and managing partner of VivaKi—the digital arm of Publicis Groupe (Kenny also serves on the board of Yahoo).
