The OTT landscape might be getting even more crowded. Walmart is considering developing a subscription streaming service to compete with players such as Amazon and Netflix, according to The Information.
Walmart is reportedly mulling a cheaper option than those competitors, at a price below $8 per month, or an ad-supported free service. That’s cheaper than Amazon’s video service, which starts at $8.99 per month, or Netflix, whose HD subscriptions start at $10.99 per month.
A spokesperson for Walmart did not immediately return requests for comment.
The report was short on details about what exactly the new streaming service would look like.
