As Univision battles its chief U.S. competitor, Telemundo, for advertising dollars, the network is looking toward its European Championship League soccer, the the 8 p.m. family hour of programming, which includes the return of reality singing competition La Banda, as well as Univision News to draw in ad buyers.

So far, Univision has been optimistic about its upfront sales, and said it is seeing, “continued excitement and growth that we believe outpaces the larger ecosystem.”

After a content-heavy upfront, “we’re pleased that advertisers are drawn to our new and returning franchises including programming events and programs that bring a large, live audience,” a spokesperson added.

While having the rights to the UEFA League has been a big draw for Univision, Telemundo has the rights to next year’s World Cup in Russia and its qualifying matches.
