Univision has acquired ad-supported streaming service Vix as it continues to push into the growing Spanish-language streaming space, the company announced today.

The deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, will dramatically increase Univision’s OTT footprint just weeks after the broadcaster said it would debut its own streaming service, PrendeTV, in the first quarter of the year.

Vix, which has more than 1,000 films and hundreds of series and documentaries, will be integrated into PrendeTV, the companies said, a move that will give the broadcaster immediate scale and distribution through Vix’s existing footprint.

Combined, the two companies will offer more than 30,000 hours of Spanish-language programming on the free, ad-supported platform.
