Most Super Bowls feature several ads for upcoming theatrical releases, but as the pandemic continues, only one such spot is airing in this year’s game.
Universal used the very first in-game ad unit of Super Bowl 55 to unveil the first spot for its horror film Old, which it noted will be debuting only in theaters on July 21.
The horror film is from director M. Night Shyamalan and was originally set to debut in February, but it was postponed due to Covid-19.
The film is inspired by the graphic novel Sandcastle, which focuses on a group of people who find a dead body on a beach and slowly realize there is something unnatural occurring.
