The CW Will Expand Its Schedule to Saturday Nights in October

The network will program all seven days a week for the first time ever

The CW is taking over Saturdays. The broadcast network will expand its schedule to all seven days in October, programming the entire week’s primetime lineup for the first time ever.

The expansion‚ which will bring the network to 14 hours of weekly primetime programming, will begin on Saturday, Oct. 2, with the first night of the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

“As The CW expands and thrives, so do our affiliate partners, and everyone sees the tremendous value and the clear excitement behind the opportunity to brand and identify as a seven night network on both a national and local level,” Betty Ellen Berlamino, evp, distribution, The CW, said in a statement.

Berlamino and Ann Miyagi, svp and general counsel, worked with the network’s key affiliate partners to secure those Saturday night clearances.

Adding linear inventory

The CW will now have additional linear inventory to sell in the upfront as a result of the expansion.
