ViacomCBS is ready to dodge the declining ratings bullet when it comes to awards shows during the pandemic. The 2020 Tony Awards are finally set to take place on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m., but the ceremony honoring the best of the the 2019-2020 Broadway season will stream exclusively on Paramount+ instead of CBS, its longtime home.

Following the Paramount+ telecast that same night, CBS will air a live concert event, The Tony Awards Present: Broadway’s Back, which will feature Broadway stars and past Tony winners reuniting on stage to perform theater classics and celebrate live theater as Broadway finally reopens following the pandemic.
