With Silence of the Lambs Sequel Clarice, CBS Tries a 'Streaming Show' on Broadcast TV

Network convinced creators it wouldn't dilute their vision for the drama

When Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet were trying to find the right home for Clarice, their sequel series to The Silence of the Lambs focusing on FBI trainee Clarice Starling, the co-creators envisioned it as ending up on a streaming service. Then they met with CBS, which had other ideas.

“CBS said, really unequivocally, ‘Please put it on our network, and we will let you make whatever show you want,’” Kurtzman recently told reporters, adding that he warned the broadcaster, “It’s going to feel like a streaming show, even though it will be a network show.”
