Remotely Produced Golden Globes Plummet to 26-Year Ratings Low

Sunday night ceremony lost nearly two-thirds of its audience from a year ago

Sunday night’s Golden Globes ceremony was a great one for streamers like Netflix in terms of the awards doled out throughout the night—but the broadcast itself was an especially abysmal one for traditional live TV.

According to Nielsen’s final ratings released this morning, just 6.9 million total viewers tuned in to watch NBC’s three-hour broadcast, a 62% drop from the 18.3 million who watched the 2020 Golden Globes ceremony, which was held in-person in January 2020 prior to the pandemic.
