Mad Men, Modern Family and Glee are among the nominees for the Gay & Lesbian Alliance’s 21st annual Media Awards.

AMC’s acclaimed cable drama and the two freshman broadcast series join fellow nominees such as Ang Lee’s film Taking Woodstock, Logo’s reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race, daytime drama One Life to Live and HLN’s new talker The Joy Behar Show.

“Words and images matter,” GLAAD president Jarrett Barrios said. “With these awards, we seek to recognize news coverage and entertainment programming that go beyond stock stereotypes with LGBT story lines that more fully reflect the challenges gay and transgender people face and the aspirations we hold for ourselves and our families.”

Other nominees include Tom Ford’s film A Single Man, Lee Daniels’ pic Precious, Robert Pattinson starrer Little Ashes, The Early Show’s interview with Chaz Bono and musical performers Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert.
