InStyle Gives Fashion Makeovers and Digital Covers to Sesame Street Favorites as the Show Turns 50

Issac Mizrahi, Marc Jacobs and other designers outfit Big Bird and Elmo

The latest InStyle cover subjects are a little furrier, brighter and sillier than what we’re used to seeing—but they all still look fabulous and fashion-forward.

The magazine created five digital covers featuring Sesame Street characters Abby Cadabby, Bert and Ernie, Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Elmo, all wearing designer outfits in honor of the show’s 50th anniversary.

“I would argue, empirically, that Sesame Street is the best thing in the world. I originally worked with them a decade ago, but on the occasion of their 50th birthday, there was no better time to ‘InStyle’ them up,” Laura Brown, editor in chief of the Meredith-owned InStyle, said in a statement.

The covers were released today, along with a video showing the characters getting invited to a party where they had specific instructions to dress their best in honor of the show’s anniversary.
