What’s the first information you consume in the morning? When I’m at home, I’m in charge of waking my 7-year-old son Ryder, so the first info is typically him giving me the down-low on what he wants for breakfast or what he dreamt about last night. [Fieri also has a 16-year-old son, Hunter.] Otherwise, if I’m not home, it’s usually notes from my manager or my assistant giving me the rundown on the day’s activities. Are you a TV junkie or on an airtime-restricted diet? I’m not a real big TV watcher. It’s a funny thing because there are some shows that I really love, like Sons of Anarchy and Chelsea Lately. I’ll catch things for five minutes and then I’m asleep. I’ve probably watched more Disney shows than anything. I’ll sit down with Ryder and watch Wizards of Waverly Place. I’m embarrassed that I even know the damn name! Do you get a lot of recommendations for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives through social media? I’ve got the best fans in the world, and they give me great insight and recommendations. I think people get upset sometimes because they’ll send me recommendations, and I won’t go. And I’m like, “You don’t understand! I’ve got enough diners, drive-ins and dives that I’ll be doing this in a walker if you guys send me any more!” Give us the skinny on your favorite app. My new favorite app is my app, not to give a shameless plug. It’s called the Guy Fieri app, and it has all of my recipes, all the Triple D locations, and even some locations we haven’t shot for the show but happen to be my favorite joints. Other than that, there’s an app called Songkick that’s the bomb. It reads your music library on your phone and then tells you if one of the bands is going to be playing anywhere near you. Before bed, do you bite into a novel, graze on Twitter or fast until morning? Usually a magazine or a book. It’s almost always about food. I was reading one last night from the folks at Sodexo that I did a partnership concert with in Montclair, N.J. They came out with this great cookbook with recipes from their chefs. If I’m not reading about food, I’ll be reading the Mötley Crüe book or Sammy Hagar’s book. What food magazines do you read? Food Network mag is awesome. Rachael [Ray]’s magazine—I don’t know where they come up with all that info every month. Probably my go-to favorite is Cook’s Illustrated. They give really in-depth information. Any chance we’ll see a Guy Fieri magazine soon? Listen, I’d love to! We’ve had conversations for the last few years about it. I’ve got such an eclectic profile of stuff that I like, from food to sports to music to kids. It would definitely be very food- and lifestyle-focused, kind of like a guy’s version of Rachael Ray’s mag.
