In Netflix's Ad, Its ‘Tu-Dum’ Sound Interrupts People Whenever Something Weird Happens

Campaign puts sonic logo front and center to highlight brand's storytelling prowess

Netflix‘s “tu-dum” sound at the start of shows is a ubiquitous part of many people’s daily lives, perhaps without them realizing. It’s become so recognizable that the brand has brought this background sound to the forefront in its latest campaign, highlighting the quality and breadth of storytelling on its platform.

The ad from Netflix Italy shows a series of everyday scenarios that suddenly take an unexpected or unusual turn. A woman walking through a train station is stopped in her tracks by a lone, ringing payphone; a dinner party is interrupted by a dog that enters the room carrying a pair of furry handcuffs; a pair hiking through the woods realize they have no internet connection on their phones; a woman at a restaurant discovers the handsome waiter has written his phone number on a napkin.
