Hulu Returns to Super Bowl for Third Straight Year

Will the ad tout the brand or a new original series?

Hulu returned to the Big Game in 2017 after a five-year hiatus with an ad promoting The Handmaid’s Tale.

Hulu is returning to the Super Bowl for the third year in a row with a 30-second spot.

Details about the advertisement are still under wraps.

The streaming service previously returned to the Super Bowl in 2017 after a five-year hiatus to run its first advertisement for an original series, The Handmaid’s Tale. That ad aired again later in the game and was the first overtime spot in Super Bowl history.

Last year, Hulu used the Super Bowl to tease its upcoming series Castle Rock. It’s not clear whether Hulu will stick with an ad that teases programming or one that will be focused on the brand.

The brand was the highlight of Hulu’s first two Super Bowl commercials, in 2009 and 2012, starring Alec Baldwin.
