Ever since Lifetime released a trailer last week for its “Lifetime original mini-movie” starring Mario Lopez as KFC’s Colonel Harland Sanders, audiences had wondered whether the whole thing was just a joke.
It kind of was—but it was also a real Lifetime movie, A Recipe for Seduction, which aired Sunday afternoon on the network. The 16-minute branded content collaboration from Lifetime, KFC and agency Wieden+Kennedy Portland inserted the KFC founder into a typical Lifetime movie.
A Recipe for Seduction, which sends up Lifetime’s signature soapy films, focuses on a young heiress whose devious mother has hand-picked her suitor, but finds herself falling instead for Lopez’s Sanders, a new chef with a secret … fried chicken recipe.
