Twelve years after it last aired, Deadwood is getting ready to return to HBO.

Casey Bloys, the network’s president of programming, said at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour that HBO has officially greenlit a movie which will wrap up the Deadwood story.

Production on the movie will begin in October, and Bloys is targeting a spring 2019 premiere date.

The Western, set in 1870s Deadwood, S.D., ran for three seasons, from 2004-2006. Creator David Milch had always envisioned telling the story in four seasons, but HBO canceled the series after Season 3.
