Google, NBCU Reportedly Eyed to Partner on Netflix’s Ad-Supported Tier

The streaming service would use the companies' ad sales teams and technology

Google and NBCUniversal are reportedly among the frontrunners to help streaming giant Netflix roll out its upcoming ad-supported tier.

Netflix hopes to debut its AVOD offering as early as the end of this year, and could use Google and NBCUniversal’s technology to pull it off, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

NBCUniversal’s partnership would probably be exclusive with the streamer, according to the report. Netflix would use Comcast’s video ad unit FreeWheel, which has programmatic capabilities, and NBCU’s ad sales team would be tapped to help sell ads in the U.S.
