Fans Can Watch the Summer Olympics in 4K for the First Time

NBCUniversal will offer a live, ultra-high definition broadcast of the Games

As the world continues to debate whether the Tokyo Olympics should still take place amidst the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, NBCUniversal is moving forward with its broadcast plans, which includes presenting its live coverage of the Games in 4K HDR for the first time ever.

NBCUniversal said today it will provide live coverage of the broadcast network’s primetime broadcast, as well as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, in 4K HDR in certain markets.

Between the lines

In addition to NBC, live competition coverage of all Tokyo Olympic programming on both Golf Channel and the Olympic Channel will be available in the ultra-high definition format.
